What is Business Ethics?

I am Yuki Sakaguchi from Tokyo, Japan. I graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan University this past year and majored in International Politics. However, now I would like to study in more detail the theory of International Business as a master’s program. My writing goal is not only to acquire how to write a well-organized essay but also to share various kinds of knowledge with UP students.

In particular, I have been currently interested in Business Ethics. Chris Macdonald (Mar. 21 2010), who is an educator and consultant in the realm of business ethics, teaching Ethical Leadership at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University in Toronto. He defined the term “Business Ethics” in the following passage.

Business Ethics is a study of proper business policies and practices regarding potentially controversial issues, such as corporate governance, insider trading, bribery, discrimination, corporate social responsibility and fiduciary responsibilities (Mar. 21 2010, para.1)

In conclusion, Business Ethics is necessary knowledge for international companies to manage local workers without conflicts. This also would help to enhance their enterprise’ s value so that they could gain more profit.
